Ceremony Practice Update - Sunday, Dec 4 & 11, 3-4:30 pm, Masonic Lodge

Posted on Dec 2 2016 - 10:16pm

Brothers:

A few weeks ago we completed our final Ordeal ceremony for the 2016 year.  This ceremony capped off another stellar year for our ceremony teams (AOL/Crossover, Pre-Ordeal and Ordeal).  As a side note to the fall Ordeal ceremonies at Bert Adams, those were Asher Goodspeed's final ceremonies that he could perform prior to his 21st birthday that was on November 17th.  Much thanks to Asher for his involvement and support of the OA ever since he was elected over seven years ago.  He has been on a ceremony team for most of his time in the Chapter and made the "job" of ceremony coach a much easier one - I'm speaking for all the gentlemen that have served in this capacity over the years.

With that being said, we now move into the next phase of the ceremony process.  In this next part we will be focusing on recruiting and filling out our Arrow of Light and Crossover ceremony teams.  This will all begin on Sunday December 4th.  On that date, and the following Sunday (Dec. 11) we will hold an open house for all interested Brothers that wish to participate in these ceremonies.  There have been a few of you that have already expressed interest in doing so for this coming spring.  Additionally, those of you that have served on a team or assisted with the AOL/Crossover this past spring, we expect your attendance on both dates.

For the 2016 ceremony team members, our expectation (requirement) is for you to each bring another brother that you believe would benefit from the ceremony team experience.  For parents that may also be reading this message, if your son is looking for a place to "plug in" to the OA and enhance their personal experience, becoming a member of a ceremony team will spur personal growth of the exponential kind.  Participating in ceremonies will also broaden their horizons and allow them to become a much better public speaker.  Also for parents, feel free to also attend.  We can answer any questions you may have about the OA ceremony schedule, script and practice arrangements.

As an overview for what will take place on both dates (12/4 & 12/11, 3-4:30 pm): we will gather and allow everyone in attendance to read from each of the two scripts (AOL & Crossover) as they are two different ceremonies.  For convenience, I have posted both ceremony scripts on the Chapter website (http://tellaquallaboundary.org/) under the left hand Menu section with the heading of "AOL & Crossover ceremony".  While there are four main principles (characters), we will also need assistance with ceremony site set-up as well as Webelos "crowd control" and it is preferred that this be handled by some of our youth.
